My Week In Work Style.
Last week, I finally got to be back at my desk, and things are definitely different. Not like I didn’t know it was going to be, but I guess seeing and experiencing it up close drives it home. I jokingly mentioned on my instagram that I’ll be wearing monochrome /all black for my work style the whole week to mourn life as I used to know it, and somehow I managed to actually see it through.
Although things are definitely different now, I wasn’t exactly doing it to mourn that. Black happens to be one of my favorite colors, and I’ll take any excuse to dress up in it.
Prior to the lockdown, a big part of my morning work routine was taking ootd pictures and videos. To maintain some semblance of normalcy, I also tried to take pictures of my work looks and I’ll be sharing them in this post.
My dress code at work is “corporate casual” but for my first day back at work, I decided to go full corporate. For this look, I centered the outfit around this gem of a jacket I found in my mum’s closet.
I styled it with a white tee, this pair of flared pants I got from Asos and my Lucy.daves sandals.
This look is actually my favorite of the looks, partly because it features my favorite pants ever and also because of the awesomeness that is this jacket. The jacket is actually another one of my finds from my mum’s closet, and I remember how hyped I was when I found it.
The boxy oversized fit may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for me, it’s my favorite thing about it. I paired it with a black camisole, black pants and monochrome sandals.
There was a time when I used to absolutely detest the sight of sneakers worn with full length flared pants but I’ve finally seen the light. Who would have thought? lol
I could have styled this combination of flared pants and white shirt with heeled sandals, but for an extra “cool factor”, I decided to go with sneakers instead.
What’s one style trend that you used to hate but now rock?
Pleated midi skirts will always always be my jam. I believe they will always be in style, even when they aren’t in trend. I’ve had this one for seven years – and even styled it on the blog for the first time here.
This is another look that would have also worked with sandals, but I decided to jazz it up with sneakers. Finishing a look with white sneakers is one hack to instantly look stylish.
For friday, I decided to go casual and wore this pair of topshop black denim pants. My initial plan was to pair the top with black mom jeans, but this worked perfectly too.
I find that styling black and white is quite straight forward, so this was no stress at all. In fact, I can alternate these same set of outfits in this post, pairing them in different ways to get new looks. That’s how easy it is for me. I guess it helps that most of the clothing items here are wardrobe staples, and would work in building a capsule wardrobe.
I’m back to remote work for the next two weeks, so I’ll be wearing my bra tops and shorts all day long. lol!
What’s your work style like? Which of these looks is your favorite?
