Cape Town International Jazz Festival postponed

The Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) has postponed the 2021 event, it announced on its website.

“The decision to postpone the 2020 Cape Town International Jazz Festival in March was one not taken lightly…This decision was accompanied by an optimistic view to host the festival once again in 2021,” said Festival Director Billy Domingo.

The CTIJF event scheduled for 2020 was postponed to 2021 as South Africa prepared to go into a nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Sadly, we currently find ourselves in the midst of a dreaded second wave of covid-19 infections, the impact of which, by all accounts, we will feel deep into 2021,” Domingo said in the statement.

The health and safety of everyone involved with the festival is of paramount importance. It is for this reason that we have decided to postpone the festival to 2022.”

The festival organisers say the  road to CTIJF 2022 will be a long one, but not “without the joy and nostalgia jazz music brings”. Expect a brand new series of online events and smaller live jazz experiences throughout 2021.
