With the best views in Cape Town, there’s no better place to enjoy some spicy winter meals as the season changes and we bid farewell to summer than at Tobago’s Restaurant, Bar and Terrace.
These colder months are perfect for hearty curries and flavourful wines, and that’s exactly what Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront is offering diners, thanks to an exciting partnership with Waterford Wines. The chef team at the hotel and the winemaker at Waterford have worked hard to develop a menu that is perfectly paired for everyone to enjoy.
“We put a great deal of thought into these curries,” says Chef Norman Heath of Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront. “We wanted diners to feel warmed up with a mix of spices that perfectly complement the wine on offer for each dish.”
The menu offers a choice of four different curries, each accompanied by a recommended glass of wine. The vegan curry of marinated plant-based cubes cooked in a creamy coconut curry sauce, served with fragrant basmati rice, cucumber and onion sambal, is best paired with the Waterford Rose-Mary. The same wine is also recommended with the seafood curry of prawns, mussels, line fish, and calamari, all smothered in t an authentic tomato Cape sweet and sour turmeric ragout, served with fragrant basmati rice, roti, cucumber and onion sambal. Best paired with the delicious Waterford Rose-Mary
Meat lovers can opt for the chicken curry, which comprises chicken cooked in an authentic local Malay ragout, served with fragrant basmati rice, roti, cucumber and onion sambal. There is also a delicious lamb curry – a spicy tomato-based curry, served with fragrant basmati rice, roti, cucumber and onion sambal, and a flavoursome grape chutney created from the Waterford Shiraz Grape. These two hearty curries are best paired with the Waterford Pecan Stream Sauvignon Blanc and the Waterford Pecan Stream Pebble Hill Red, respectively.
The chutney served with the lamb curry isn’t just any chutney This chutney has been created by Chef Norman using the grapes handpicked at Waterford Wine Estate to accompany the dish, and it’s a delightful addition to the menu.
The cost of these curries, with a glass of wine, is R265, with the special available at lunch and dinner time from Monday to Sunday until 30 September 2021. Guests are welcome to select either the Waterford Rose-Mary, Waterford Pecan Stream Sauvignon Blanc or Waterford Pecan Stream Pebble Hill Red to accompany their curry selection
