When a film is good or bad, critics will state why they think it’s bad. Think the movie “Capone” from 2019. The movie was bad, and critics agreed that it was.
Now think about films like Black Christmas, Captain Marvel, Ghostbusters 2016, and Charlies Angels. Films with some sort of political connection. When discussing THOSE films, all of a sudden it’s ten times harder. If the movie is bad, it has to be REAL bad, no exceptions.
To put it simply, if a politically connected movie is released to the public, it becomes harder to review it in fear you’ll be accused of being…something. What do you guys think? Do politics ruin film discussion?
