Johannesburg, 6 October 2021: Apple Music today announced the latest featured artist in its Up Next artist development program in Nigeria, as Los born musician, photographer, fashion designer and filmmaker, Wavy The Creator (real name Jennifer Ejoke).
Wavy said, “Honoured, is an understatement! Being selected for Apple Music’s Up Next Nigeria feels like everything I’ve put into the universe is finally actualizing. Everything I’ve fought and worked for looks more attainable than ever.”
Making a name for herself as Hip Hop giant Olamide’s official photographer, it was Wavy’s breakout single “H.I.G.H” (2017) that put her on the global music map, attracting the attention of publications like The New York Times, Vogue, Fader and Dazed, to name a few.
Wavy The Creator’s debut EP, P.S. Thank You for Waiting (2021), available to stream on Apple Music, is an amalgamation of all her strengths as she bucks conventions and trends by writing her own rules. The EP takes you on a rollercoaster of emotion, bringing Tay Iwar, CKay, Efya, and Wurld along for the ride with prominent features.
As the latest Up Next act to be spotlighted in Nigeria, Wavy The Creator will be featured across Apple Music Nigeria’s Up Next playlist apple.co/UpNext-Playlist. The curated Up Next playlist features a dynamic class of new and emerging artists, thoughtfully hand-picked by Apple Music editors from around the world. The playlist is genre agnostic and represents a line-up of artists the global editors are passionate about and eager to expose to a larger audience.
Wavy The Creator joins Ajebo Hustlers and Jaido P as Apple Music’s growing stable of Up Next Artists from Nigeria.
